Sturdy Survival guide

Everything a new player asks in the first week, in one place. Numbers are the server's own and may be tuned; the server always tells you the current one.

WarzoneFlat, open PvP outside a cross-shaped safe zone along the lit road. Bases go in the quadrants; TNT breaks blocks for good, and the safe cross is blast-proofnone, no protectionon—
  • Keep-inventory is off everywhere. Only Exalted and above keep their XP on death. Death drops lie for 15 minutes, and so does enchanted gear you throw.
  • In the home world you cannot dig or build outside a town: only torches, ladders, boats, portals and a few small things. That is why a town's builds cannot be griefed (a fallen town is open to everyone for 7 days, though its locked containers stay shut), and why the Resource World exists.
  • A spawner you placed yourself can be picked back up with Silk Touch, mob and all; a spawner found in the world cannot.
  • A season ends with the Resource World and its Nether and End regenerated. Your town, your home world and everything in it carry on. The Resource World resets about once a month; the date is announced in the Discord first.
  • The Warzone is reached by warp only, /tpahere is blocked inside it, and it is kept off the public map on purpose, as is the Resource World.
  • A combat tag lasts 20 seconds after a hit: no teleporting out of a fight, and logging out while tagged counts as a death.

Your first hour

  1. The resource pack. The first thing you see: "Survival uses a small pack for its rank effects. Accept to play." It is about 90 KB, required, and changes only text.
  2. Welcome. A title with your name, a chime, three fireworks, and everyone online is told a new player has arrived. Say hi back.
  3. PvP protection. For your first 60 minutes of play no player can hurt you. It ends early if you hit a player, set off a bed or anchor, or enter a PvP area (the Warzone, the spawn Arena, a town with PvP on, the home Nether's wilderness).
  4. The choice. A two-button screen: I'm new here or I've played before.
  5. New here: you join StarterVille and get the free plot nearest its spawn (/home is set there), the beta kit ($3,000, 12 diamonds and building blocks), and a lift to the Resource World. A five-step bar then runs at the top of the screen: dig (/rtp) → pick a job (/jobs) → go home (/home) → place five blocks → reach Peasant (/rankups, /rankup). Each step pays $50.
  6. Played before: you stay in the plaza with a Quick Start panel: take a free plot, found a town, dig in the Resource World, pick a job, claim /kit beta.
The free plot. One per player, in StarterVille, $0 and no upkeep: /freeplot gives it at any time. If you are away for 14 days the plot goes back on sale; your build stays until someone else is given it. Everyone starts with $100 and the starter kit: iron tools and armour, food, torches, a bed, a crafting table and a furnace.

Getting around: /rtp opens a world menu and drops you far from spawn (30-second cooldown; every teleport has a 3-second warm-up). /warps lists the server warps (spawn, the home world, the Resource World, the Warzone, the Arena, the fishing pond, the crates) and players' own warps. /spawn takes you back.

Towns and nations

ThingCost
Found a town, /town new <name> (no rank needed)$2,500
Claim a plot$100, and $20 per plot per day upkeep
Reclaim a ruined town (its former mayor and ranked members in the first 24 hours, then any resident)$1,000
Found a nation (needs the Noble rank)$25,000, then $500 a day
Bonus town blocksup to 500, from $250 each and rising
  • /town opens the town menu. Towns must stay 5 plots apart. A town that cannot pay its upkeep falls to ruin: open to everyone for 7 days, its buildings left standing and its locked containers still shut, then deleted. Mayors can set daily taxes.
  • Locks (home world only): a container locks to whoever places it; nobody else can open or break it, hoppers and explosions included. /lock locks a door, trapdoor or gate and /unlock removes a lock; /bolt trust <player> shares yours; /bolt open and /bolt close let anyone use a lock that stays yours. Containers placed before October 13 are not locked until you /lock them. Locked doors, droppers and dispensers ignore redstone.
  • To join a friend's town, leave StarterVille first: /town leave.
  • Capital is the server town around the world spawn; StarterVille is the starter town, run by an NPC mayor, that grows by itself as people arrive.
  • Before you join a town: a mayor can remove you and take the plot back; deposits to the town bank are gifts to the town; hand trades are not refunded. If you leave or are removed, your container locks on that land last 7 days and your door, sign and frame locks come off at once. Town-mates cannot open your containers unless you /bolt trust them.

Money, jobs and shops

  • Money is $: /bal, /baltop, /pay. It stays on Survival. Gems are the network's premium currency (/gems, /gems pay) and never convert to money.
  • Jobs (/jobs): Brewer, Builder, Crafter, Digger, Enchanter, Explorer, Farmer, Fisherman, Hunter, Miner, Weaponsmith, Woodcutter. One job as a Wanderer, two at Peasant, three at Knight. Blocks you placed yourself pay nothing for ten minutes, and kills next to spawners pay nothing. The pay rates are still being tuned.
  • mcMMO (/mcstats, /mctop): the standard skills with faster XP. Skill power gates the rank ladder.
  • Chest shops (/qs create <price>, /qs find <item>) need the Merchant rank. A 5% market fee comes off each sale. There is no server sell shop and no auction house: nothing you sell goes to the server; players trade with players.
  • Coinflip (/cf): $50 to $10,000, or 5 to 500 Gems, against another player. A 5% tax is burned.

The rank ladder

Ten rungs, earned by playing and never sold. /rankups shows the road and what you are missing; /rankup claims the next rung and takes its price then. Nobody loses a rung.

"Power" is your mcMMO power level; the second number is your job levels added up across all your jobs. Nothing cosmetic is on the free ladder; /back, /enderchest and /feed are premium perks.

Premium ranks and workers

Six tiers, bought once with Gems in game (/premium), each including everything below it; an upgrade costs the difference. They add cosmetics, convenience and workers, beside the earned ladder and never above it: no ladder rung is ever included.

TierJobs paySkill and job XP/rtp cooldownWorkersOwn warpsExtra homes

IMMORTAL+50%2.5×5 s65+12

Every tier's cosmetics, commands, purchase rewards, daily and weekly kits are listed in full on the store's rank cards. Premium tags glow through the resource pack. Premium players also get a coloured outline; /glow toggles that outline, and it switches off where PvP is on.

Workers

  • A labelled bot that works for you while you are online, in the home world and the Resource World. /worker opens the menu; /worker wand marks an area; /worker give hands it tools; /worker hide and /worker call put it away and bring it back.
  • Jobs unlock by the worker's level: mine, dig, chop and farm first; then haul, fill, branch-mine (Resource World only) and fetch; then sort, smelt, flatten, light and follow; then animals, fishing, restocking, guarding and roads; finally building, town walls and town lights.
  • Working costs $250 and 10 Gems per hour of work, charged in six-minute blocks, and nothing while a worker waits. Faster levels are bought with in-game money.

Crates and keys

The crates stand at spawn (/warps → the crates); /crates lists your keys. Every key is a physical item, and each crate's preview shows every outcome with its exact chance.

CrateHow you get keysWhat is inside
Goldone key per vote; never sold for cash (100 Gems in the Gem shop)money, XP, emeralds, diamonds, enchanted books, golden apples, and a 3% shot at a Diamond key
Diamond$1.99 or 199 Gems; vote milestones; the Noble rankmostly goods, plus cosmetics, Gems, a Netherite key, a spawner, a maxed pickaxe or an elytra at small odds
Netherite$7.99 or 799 Gems; vote milestones; the King ranktop cosmetics, beacons, elytras, spawners, Gems, maxed netherite gear, and a 0.25% premium rank upgrade
Cosmetic$3.99 or 399 Gems; vote milestonescosmetics only, with a 3% name gradient

Rush Hour is the hourly loot event: on the hour, with three or more players online, crates drop over spawn and become chests for five minutes, one of them gilded, a quarter of them in the Arena where PvP is on. Keys, including the rarer ones, are in them.

Voting

Five lists, once a day on most of them. /vote shows the links, your total and the milestones; the Vote page has the links too.

  • Every vote: $100, 2 Gems, a Gold key and a vote point.
  • Milestones (all-time, paid once each): 10 votes $500 + 10 Gems · 25 votes $1,500 + 25 Gems + a Diamond key · 50 votes $3,000 + 50 Gems + 2 Diamond keys · 100 votes $7,500 + 100 Gems + a Cosmetic key · 250 votes $20,000 + 250 Gems + a Netherite key · 500 votes $50,000 + 500 Gems + a Netherite and a Cosmetic key.
  • Vote party: every 50 votes server-wide, 30 minutes of 2× Jobs pay and mcMMO XP for everyone, and a Gold key for each online voter.
  • Vote shop (/voteshop): spend vote points on keys and goods.

Heirlooms

  • Hold a piece of gear (a tool, weapon, armour piece, shield, elytra or turtle shell) and type /engrave: 100 Gems. It becomes Heirloom #N, engraved by you, with the date.
  • It counts its own lifetime stats across every owner: blocks and ores for a pickaxe, kills for a weapon, hits taken for armour, fish for a rod, distance for an elytra. A kill counts only if the item did half the work, never on spawner mobs.
  • Tiers: Forged, then Tempered, Awakened, Fabled and Mythic, each ten times the last. Tempered pushes the item's main enchant one level past vanilla's maximum; the higher tiers add custom enchants that come from heirlooms and nowhere else. Fabled and Mythic are announced to the whole server.
  • It records who held it: taken on a death, bought in a chest shop, passed on. It is not soulbound. On the ground it never despawns and survives fire, lava, cactus and explosions (not the void), even inside a shulker box or bundle. /heirloom <n> tells one item's story; /heirlooms lists them all.

Friends, kits and extras

  • Bring a friend: a new player types /refer <you> in their first 24 hours of play and gets $250 + 10 Gems at once; you get $500 + 20 Gems once they have played an hour.
  • Link your Discord: /link in game gives you a code; type /link with that code in the Discord. 20 Gems, once, plus the Survival role and your premium tier as a role. It works on every Sturdy server, once.
  • Kits (/kits): the starter kit and /kit beta once each; a fishing rod daily; a Peasant kit and a Knight kit weekly from those ranks up; a daily and a weekly kit per premium tier.
  • Homes and storage: /sethome <name> and /home <name>; /pv 1 opens your portable storage chest. More of both with every rank.
  • Teleports: /tpa, /tpaccept, /tpahere; a nickname with /nick from Peasant; /cosmetics for what you own.

The rules

The network's six rules apply here as everywhere (Rules). Survival adds its own, shown in game with /rules:

  1. No cheating: no hacked clients, no exploits, no dupes.
  2. Towns are protected; outside them, take only what the world gives. No griefing of what others built.
  3. PvP only where it is on. No baiting into safe zones.
  4. Trades are honoured. Scamming gets you removed.
  5. Be decent in chat: no hate, no spam, no advertising.
  6. One account per person; no alts to dodge rules.
  7. Staff decisions are final; appeal on Discord.

Breaking a rule can cost you your rank, your town or your place here. Chat is filtered automatically and repeat offences escalate from a blocked message to a mute to a day's ban. /report <what happened> reaches every staff member online and the Discord's #reports. Punishments are automatic; if one was wrong, say so on the Discord.

Restarts and events

  • Daily restart at 3:00 am Pacific (10:00 UTC), about a minute, with a 5-minute, 1-minute and 10-second warning. Everyone online is moved to the hub first and can come straight back.
  • Rush Hour every hour on the hour when three or more players are on, with warnings 5 and 1 minutes before.
  • Vote party every 50 server-wide votes. Server-wide boosts also come from the Divine and Immortal weekly kits.
  • Votes: once a day on most lists. Kits: daily and weekly on their own timers.
